This program is intended for:
Candidates of all nationalities
Candidates who are at least 18 years old
Candidates in good health
Candidates with a very good knowledge of English
Full-time culinary students enrolled in a school outside of the US, recent culinary graduates with one year of experience or professionals with at least 5 years of culinary work experience
Passionate chefs, pastry, bakery, or hospitality professionals
Individuals who prefer hands-on training and practical learning
Candidates seeking international experience in the United States
Motivated professionals aiming to grow within high-level hospitality environments

The American J-1 Program is a paid internship and training program, depending on placement, employer, and location in the United States.
Compensation may vary based on role, experience, and region.
Program purpose
The American J-1 Culinary Program aims to:
provide international hands-on culinary experience at a professional level
develop talent within the U.S. hospitality industry
build bridges between European and American gastronomy
strengthen career opportunities for future chefs and hospitality professionals
The total investment is:
Up to 6 months: $2,480 USD
From 6 months up to 1 year: $2,980 USD

Personal living expenses and daily costs
Participants typically work between 32 and 45 hours per week, depending on the placement and operational needs of the establishment.
All working hours are fully paid, with hourly wages generally ranging between $16 and $25 USD per hour, depending on the role, experience, and location.
